About Us

story began in Brooklyn, NY and the year was 1954 when two craftsmen
founded Creative Metal Products, Inc. They put their
talents to forge iron and brass to work in order to supply Cocktail
Tables, Bakers Racks, and Chairs for the New York City carriage
trade of Lord & Taylor, B. Altman, And Bloomingdales. From
these humble beginnings evolved the family owned and operated Creative
Metal & Wood, Inc. The factory is no longer in Brooklyn; in
fact, after a move across the Hudson River in 1964, New Jersey
became home for a 27 year stretch until 1991. It was then that
the decision was made and the factory equipment, personnel, and
materials were moved to our current and permanent home into the
heart of furniture country, Thomasville, North Carolina.
 But geography has not been the only change during our 50 year journey.
What had begun as a small collection of steel and brass designs
has over time expanded to include Stainless Steel, Solid Woods
and Veneers, Cabinetry, Chair Frames,
Upholstery, Laminates, and most recently Framed Mirrors.
We now catalogue well over 600 styles within 20 different categories of home
furnishings and continue to grow. And yet throughout all of our growth and change
we have never strayed from our roots as a manufacturer in the true sense of the
word. Unlike many of the “buyers and re-sellers” of today that outsource
the actual hand labor and skill that goes into building a piece of furniture
we are unique. We, at Creative Metal & Wood take great pride in the fact
that within a single factory facility we are able to fuse the abilities of :
- A fully functioning and staffed Metal / Blacksmith Shop
- Wood / Cabinetry Shop
- Finishing Operation (Spray and Hand)
- Upholstery Department
- Shipping and Inspections
By actually building our products individually and from start
to finish we are able to offer levels of versatility and quality
control that other “manufacturers” could only hope
for.
